There is one of the core features in the Matter protocol that called Multi-Admin, it provides for simultaneous operation in multiple smart home systems. Accordingly, family or household members could operate the device with the digital assistant or smartphone app of their choice.
For new Matter users who may be confused about this feature, we have compiled some QAs to help you understand it quickly.
1. Will adding the device to one platform automatically add it to other platforms?
No, it won't. Although a Matter device can be added to multiple platforms, for security reasons, users must add the device once for each platform.
2. Do I use the same QR code or manual code on the product for each platform pairing?
No, you don't. Only the first addition requires the QR code or manual code on the device. The next platform can be paired with the temporary code enabled by the first platform app. For more details, please refer to pictures below.
3. Can I control the device through Meross Alexa skill or Google Action without using the Multi-Admin function?
While you can control the device through Meross Alexa skill or Google Action, we recommend that you use the Multi-Admin function to pair your devices with different platforms. This is because Multi-Admin is bound by the third-party platform's own account, which reduces the chance of dropouts. Additionally, it is an easy and standard pairing process for Matter, providing a better user experience.
